Karmut / Hoot
Karmut (African sharptooth catfish) is a hardy, air-breathing bottom feeder found throughout the Nile, canals and Lake Nasser. It can survive in low-oxygen water and even wriggle short distances over land. A common catch on bottom baits, especially after dark, and a cheap food-market staple.
