Double Uni Knot

The easier alternative to the FG knot: joins two lines reliably. A bit bulkier, but much faster to tie.

When to use it

  • ·Braid → leader (the simple way)
  • ·Joining two lines of different diameter
  • ·Quick re-ties on the boat

Step by step

  1. 1Overlap the two line ends by about 20 cm
  2. 2Tie a uni knot with line A around line B (4–6 wraps)
  3. 3Tie a uni knot with line B around line A
  4. 4Wet both knots and tighten them individually
  5. 5Pull on both standing lines — the knots slide together
  6. 6Trim the tag ends short

Pro tip

With braid, double the number of wraps (8 instead of 4) — braid is slicker and will slip otherwise.
